NWA 4471 Graphite Bearing Ureilite Meteorite 3.60g

3.60 gram fragment from NWA 4471, a very rare and interesting graphite-bearing Ureilite found in Northwest Africa in 2006.  When this meteorite was first cut, it destroyed a diamond blade within 3 seconds indicating we had a very diamond-rich Ureilite on our hands.  Needless to say, cutting a meteorite like this can be very time-consuming and expensive.  A Total Known Weight (TKW) of 881 grams is recorded for this find.  This specimen comes with an identification card from The Hupé Collection.

Here is the brief classification report from the University of Washington:

Graphite-Bearing Ureilite

Predominantly olivine (~Fa15) and low-Ca pyroxene (both with reduced, Mg-rich rims containing kamacite blebs).  Fairly abundant graphite blades.
